INKBERROW JAZZ

We are proud to announce that the 2004 season of jazz concerts
has raised £1550 for Macmillan Cancer Relief .
Sponsored by Blacks of Inkberrow, Inkberrow Jazz was founded by the owner Roger Black to bring World class jazz to the area and to benefit this most worthwhile charity.
The first gig in January at The Bull's Head attracted a full house audience for a great performance by UK top saxophonist Alan Barnes with a trio lead by that supreme pianist David Newton.
The Mayor of Worcester came along to support the venture, as did a good sprinkling of local musicians and David Hellings of BBC Hereford and Worcester 's Big Band programme.
It was a sell out and a fantastic gig, culminating in "The Archer's Blues," by Alan Barnes - based on the well known theme tune for the long running Radio 4 series, in celebration of Inkberrow's long association with the programme.

A grand piano was hired for the final gig in September for Geoff Eales, with his trio, to accompany international jazz vocalist Miss Lee Gibson for an evening of George Gershwin's music.
The club got a drinks licence and the Village Hall proved an ideal venue which enabled a bigger audience and comfortable seating for a wonderful concert of Gershwin Classics plus anecdotes of George's life from Lee Gibson and a selection from Rhapsody in Blue from Geoff Eales.
